Mission and History

Arts From The Heart, founded by Bill and Valerie Meek, was initiated as a pilot program in 1998 in response to budget cutbacks within the school district which deprived students of arts enrichment. The pilot program proved to be successful and was met with eager anticipation by students wanting to experience the cultural arts. AFTH also received general support from local artists and was fervently encouraged to continue by school administration and the community.

Arts From the Heart (AFTH) is celebrating our many years of providing cultural art experiences to Wimberley youth, developing their creative thinking abilities and appreciation for the arts. The benefit of these skills and appreciation are carried with them into adulthood.  Wimberley is a small town, but the number of students we have been able to reach over our since 1998 is impressive.

AFTH relies solely on donations to sustain our efforts and is a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization. Although we have suggested donation amounts for some classes that are not sponsored, no child is ever turned away for inability to contribute.

We bring art to the children of Wimberley and encourage them to bring their art to the community by giving them opportunities to show their work. AFTH has developed partnerships and resources that help make this happen and feel strongly that part of the education for our children is the message of community involvement.
